What’s not cool, however, is the control scheme. But it’s actually part of GoatZ’s charm, so we’ll let it pass. Usually, we’d consider it appalling for a game to have such broken physics. Getting stuck beneath the world geometry and starving to death is one way to die. Except when it gets flung out into the sky for no reason whatsoever. About all that’s guaranteed is that if you move forward, your goat will take a few steps ahead. This is a game that absolutely delights in glitches. The glitches, including getting shunted under the world’s geometry every few minutes are far, far scarier than the blocky zombies. The flip side of this is that the physics break the game, often in horrifying ways. More or less all objects in the game are ragdoll-enabled, so you can tongue-lasso zombies and loose gravestones to your heart’s content, almost like a furry, cut-rate Rico Rodriguez. The thing is, GoatZ doesn't really need a story to do what it does best: GoatZ's one of the very few mobile games to make extensive use of PhysX. In some ways, it almost felt like a throwback to mid-90’s shooters like Quake, where you’d get more of the story by reading the box cover than playing the game. Storywise, that’s about as far as GoatZ gets. And, quoting the game’s description, “You have to eat every damn five minutes because Dean Hall and Garry Newman said so.” Dean Hall’s the creator of DayZ, by the way. In all honesty, we’re inclined towards saying that it’s not, but let’s find out. We’re here to tell you whether or not spending Rs. Yes, who even thinks of these things? Who even? That’s not a question we can answer for you. And now, it’s got a survival-horror spinoff, GoatZ. We’re still not exactly sure what to make of Goat Simulator, but for better or for worse, it’s a thing.

With flagging sales, price cuts and some truly desperate marketing strategies, the “Xbone,” may still be in search of a killer app but we somehow doubt that Goat Simulator is going to convince you to buy one instead of a PS4 or a budget PC. A year later, Goat Simulator’s become something of a cross-platform sensation on iOS, Android, Windows, and on Xbox One. Well, a whole lot of people appear to enjoy tongue-lassoing chairs into people, and head-butting said people off the sides of buildings. That was more or less how Coffee Stain Studio’s Goat Simulator came into being. With the sheer amount of content in the App Store, it was really just a matter of time until somewhere, some guy decided to make a game about a glitchy goat with a disturbingly long tongue that goes around licking things and (occasionally) engages in ritual murder. So, just like what the particle physicists say about bosons and multiverses and infinity, it’s all about probability.
